§ 2-4-2. Library Board—Membership, duties and powers

  • (a) Membership and Terms. Pursuant to Wis. Stats. § 43.54, the Library Board shall consist of seven (7) members appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Council, to serve three (3) year terms. One (1) member shall be a school district administrator or his/her representative, and not more than one (1) member of the Council shall serve on the Library Board at any one (1) time. Up to two (2) members may be residents of towns adjacent to the City.

    (b) Duties and Powers.

    (1) The Library Board shall have the duties and powers as prescribed by Wis. Stats. Ch. 43, and more particularly set forth in Wis Stats. § 43.58. The Library Board shall appoint the Librarian and other library employees.

    (2) The Library Board shall submit annually to the Council an itemized budget of the estimated expenses of the library for the following year.
