§ 7.4. Inventory of Existing Agreements

Latest version.
  • Police, Fire, and EMS Agreements

Formal intergovernmental agreements that impact the City of Greenwood include those which involve police, fire, and emergency rescue service. There are approximately 18 different fire departments and/or fire associations that serve various areas in Clark County. These departments serve towns, villages, and cities and have a service area which crosses municipal borders and even county borders. All departments also have mutual aid agreements to assist other departments if necessary.

United Communities of Clark County Waste Services Agreement

In 2004, the City of Greenwood joined the United Communities of Clark County (UCCC) in accepting bids for a joint garbage and recycling contract. UCCC member communities included the Cities of Neillsville, Colby, Abbotsford, Loyal, Thorp, and Owen and the Villages of Curtiss, Dorchester, and Withee. As a result of this bidding process with the UCCC, Onyx Waste Services was selected to continue to provide curbside garbage and recycling services in Greenwood.

Public Works Equipment and Service Agreements

The City of Greenwood is not a party to any formal agreements, however the city does often share equipment and some services with the City of Loyal. Shared equipment and services include a water meter tester and street sweeping. The City of Loyal and the City of Greenwood are also in discussions regarding future use of the Greenwood wastewater treatment plant to treat wastewater from Loyal.
