§ 4.11. Parks Recreation & Open Space

George Scherer Athletic Field is supplied with various recreation opportunities. The park is well equipped for a picnic outing with drinking water, tables, a grill, shelters, flush restrooms, open space and playground equipment. The park also has a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, a basketball court, and softball and baseball diamonds.

City Park is a small park which provides good recreation opportunities for the residents of Greenwood. The park is supplied with picnic tables, playground equipment, water fountain, open play area, and a skating rink in the winter. The park is well maintained.

Greenwood County Park is county-owned and maintained. The park receives moderate to high use. The park has both a campground and day use area. Tables, grills, drinking water, toilets, and shelters are provided for picnicking. There is also a large open play area.

There are also a variety of recreational area and facilities available at schools located in Greenwood.
