    Local Improvements

The following maintenance equipment is owned by the city: two patrol trucks, end loader with plow system, dump truck, bull dozer, excavator, backhoe, and a sludge truck which is housed at the waste water treatment plant. Street sweeping, lawn mowing, black topping, and snow blowing maintenance duties are contracted from a private provider.

The city has identified several road projects which will require some form of construction (see Map 4-2). The City of Greenwood 10 year planned improvements include resurfacing East Schofield & Eaton Avenue, Reese, South White & School Street and parts of Begley, Andrews and Miller Streets. New street projects in the 10 year plan include blacktopping Steven Avenue with curb and gutter. State projects include the resurfacing of STH 73 through the city. The project is scheduled for commencement in 2006 and the city will use this opportunity to replace sewer, water, and storm sewer lines, improve curb and gutter, improve sidewalks, and install decorative lighting. The project will be completed in three phases and is estimated to be complete in October of 2006. County projects include the replacement or renovation of the Black River Bridge on CTH G.

The city maintains a road evaluation and maintenance program, essentially a five-year street budget, which directs short-term road improvement projects. The PASER program is also utilized to assist the city in planning for road improvement projects.
